The Beatles Bank, Plymouth Art Weekender 2019
Held in the premises of The Prime Cafe Bar, Ebrington Street, The Beatles Bank was a collaboration between Annie Millar and Amanda Leman held over the three days of the annual event Plymouth Art Weekender 2019.
Inspired by the fact that the Beatles filmed the Magical Mystery Tour in the South West of England and that fact is made very little of, memories were collected and “banked” into a ledger to forever seal them as part of Plymouth history. A piece of collaborative art will be the outcome of the event. There was also a wall where favourite lyrics could be scribed and Beatles themed Badges could be made or purchased. Each participant was “stamped” on the hand as a receipt of their memory.
The memories banked ranged from postcards collected back in the 1960s, to identification of the couple sitting on the bench in the famous picture of the Beatles sitting on Plymouth Hoe in 1967 when they were filming the Magical Mystery Tour, through to recalling which songs were sung in the car as children.
