Artist biography
Annie Millar is a working artist from the South West England. She considers herself a painter at heart, but works across a multi faceted practice working with paint, drawing, glass, video, projection and print. Each project she embarks on is driven by the need to get interaction and reaction to her work. Intervention is a key basis of her practice where she takes the approach that art can be the force that can question the status quo and deliver change. Her original training was in graphic design and she spent her early working life in the magazine publishing world. She moved from here into higher education teaching, before starting her own business based in Manchester and London, working with national and international clients. A life style change saw her return to Devon, the county she grew up in. Here she gained a First Class Honours Degree in Painting, Drawing and Printmaking from Plymouth College of Art. She now lives in Calstock in Cornwall, and currently continues to explore her focus of creating change through the act of making.
